Winter driving ban calendar 2024/2025 in Tirol and Salzburg (BGBl. II 2/2024 & BGBl. II 383/2024)

On the A 12 Inntal motorway and the A 13 Brenner motorway, driving with trucks, trucks with trailers and semi-trailers with a GVW of over 7.5 t is prohibited.
• on all Saturdays from January 13, 2024 to March 9, 2024 inclusive from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. prohibited if the destination is in Italy or Germany or a country that is to be reached via Italy or Germany.

The regulation contains exceptions for certain transport purposes.

On the A 10 Tauern Autobahn, driving with trucks, trucks with trailers and semi-trailers with a GVW of over 7.5 t is prohibited.

• on the Villach carriageway (southbound) between the Salzburg junction (A 10 junction from the A 1) and the Pongau junction,
o on Friday, December 20, 2024 and Friday, January 3, 2025 as well as on all Fridays from January 17, 2025 to March 28, 2025 inclusive from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and
o on Saturday, December 21, 2024 and on Saturday, January 4, 2025 as well as on all Saturdays from January 18, 2025 to March 29, 2025 inclusive from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.;

• on the Salzburg carriageway (northbound) between the Rennweg junction and the Golling junction,
o on Friday, January 3, 2025 and on all Fridays from February 7, 2025 up to and including February 28, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and
o on Saturday, January 4, 2025 and on all Saturdays from January 18, 2025 to March 29, 2025 inclusive, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.,

forbidden.

The regulation provides for exceptions for certain transport purposes. Furthermore, journeys with a destination and/or origin in certain regions expressly mentioned in the regulation (Austrian political districts, Bavarian counties, Italian provinces, Slovenian statistical regions) are exempt.

On the B 179 Fernpass road between KM 0.00 (Nassereith) and KM 47.957 (Vils) driving with trucks with a GVW of more than 7.5 tonnes is prohibited

Exceptions (excerpt):

- Districts of Imst, Innsbruck-Land, Innsbruck-Stadt, Landeck, Reutte,
- Districts of Biberach, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Lindau, Oberallgäu, Ostallgäu, Ravensburg, Unterallgäu, Weilheim-Schongau
- Cities of Kaufbeuren, Kempten, Memmingen,
- Municipality of Samnaun
- District and valley communities of Burggrafenamt, Vinschgau

Sectoral truck driving ban A12/A13 - 2020 NEW


On the A12 Inntal motorway, there is a driving ban in both directions from road kilometer 6.35 in the municipality of Langkampfen to road kilometer 72.00 in the municipality of Ampass for trucks or articulated vehicles with a maximum permissible total weight of more than 7.5 tonnes and for trucks with trailers where the total of the maximum permissible total weights of both vehicles is more than 7.5 tonnes, provided that the vehicles are transporting the following goods:

Waste included in the European Waste Catalogue:
- Stones, earth, excavated material
- Round wood, cork
- Motor vehicles (L, M1, M2, N1)
- Non-ferrous and iron ores
- Steel (except reinforcing and structural steel for construction sites)
- Marble and tavertine
- Tiles (ceramic)

NEW from 01/01/2020:
- Paper and cardboard
- Liquid mineral oil products
- Cement, lime and burnt gypsum
- Pipes and hollow profiles
- Cereals

What applies to transit traffic? Until December 31, 2019, the "old" prohibited goods may still be transported on the section of the Inntal motorway described above with Euro VI; from January 1, 2020, all of the prohibited goods listed above may only be transported under the additional condition that the motor vehicle was first registered after August 31, 2018 and this is proven by a document carried in the vehicle. What applies to destination/source traffic? From January 1, 2020, the prohibited goods listed may no longer be transported in destination/source traffic with Euro class IV vehicles, and from January 1, 2023, they may no longer be transported in Euro class V vehicles either. In destination/source traffic, the transport of these prohibited goods with Euro class VI vehicles (without restriction) is still permitted - of course also beyond January 1, 2023. Which districts are within the core zone and where are journeys with the excluded Euro classes possible in the destination OR source traffic (loading or unloading must take place in the district):

- Innsbruck-Stadt
- Innsbruck-Land
- Imst
- Kufstein and
- Schwaz.

Which districts are in the extended zone and where are journeys with the excluded Euro classes possible in the destination AND source traffic (loading and unloading must take place in the district):

Austria:

- Kitzbühel
- Landeck
- Lienz
- Reutte
- Zell am See

Germany:

- the districts of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen
- Garmisch-Partenkirchen
- Miesbach
- Rosenheim (including the city) and
- Traunstein

Italy:

- the district communities Eisacktal
- Pustertal and
- Wipptal

ATTENTION, the following districts have been included in the expanded zone for a limited period until December 31, 2020:

- Bludenz and Feldkirch in Vorarlberg
- the Principality of Liechtenstein and
- the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland.
